Weiler Péter

Péter Weiler is an artist of the post-socialist generation whose work explores the intersection of socialist heritage and contemporary digital capitalism. His practice is rooted in storytelling, where reality and fiction intertwine and absence plays as significant a role as what is visible. He received his MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York and is currently a doctoral candidate at MOME. Standby takes place in the lobby of the former office building of the power plant and examines the condition of permanent readiness that characterises contemporary life. Abandoned files, furniture and everyday objects appear as traces of interrupted labour, forming a walk-through narrative environment that reflects on the relationship between work, technology and time.
