Maotik (FR)
Mathieu Le Sourd, also known as Maotik, is a French digital artist working at the intersection of art, science, and technology through immersive environments, interactive installations, and audiovisual performances. Using generative visual systems, algorithms, and custom-designed tools, his work often explores the relationship between spatial perception and digital environments. His works have been presented worldwide at major festivals and institutions including Mutek, Ars Electronica, Sonar, the British Film Institute, Signal Festival, and La Biennale di Venezia. He previously led the interactive department at Moment Factory, contributing to large-scale multimedia projects and immersive visual experiences.
At INOTA Festival, Maotik presents a new site-specific installation in the Boiler Room, using laser and video mapping to activate the monumental industrial structure of the space. Multiple laser sources and large-scale projections extend across the front architecture, side sections, and ceiling, transforming the hall into a constantly shifting digital landscape. Emerging from the meeting point of minimal graphic structures, immersive audiovisual composition, and raw industrial architecture, the work explores how built space can become a living, responsive visual system.
