László Zsolt Bordos - Vertikum

VISUAL

László Zsolt Bordos merges the senses of sight and hearing into a single, synesthetic experience, transforming sound into moving light and visuals into an audible rhythm. The projection consists of vertical bands of oscillating waveforms, resembling an array of synchronized oscilloscopes. Here, the sound created by Ondrej Skala, is not merely accompanied by visuals, but it is translated into them. The undulating patterns make the frequencies visible, revealing the sonic architecture of the piece as it unfolds. Likewise, the hypnotic motion and spatial arrangement of the vertical waves have a musicality of their own, making the visuals audible in the mind of the viewer. Sound and visuals, used in perfect synchronicity, trigger both the auditory and visual apparatus, immersing the audience in a heightened state of perception. This unity of senses brings an intense, uplifting experience, where perception overflows into pure sensation.

By mapping the audio spectrum into vertical space, Bordos creates an architectural instrument of light and sound, where the projection surface becomes both a score and a performance. Vertikum invites the audience into a realm where the border between hearing and seeing dissolves, and “visual music” becomes an embodied, shared elevation of the senses.

Bordos' new 3D mapping piece VERTIKUM breathes new life into the monumental industrial spaces of the Inota power plant through a mystical and captivating visual narrative. The work serves as a kind of "visual meditation" on the relationship between humans, space, and transcendence. Its title alludes to an upward movement - one that reaches beyond the physical realm and opens toward spiritual dimensions.

Through the motif of verticality, Bordos traces an ascending path that rises from the ruins of industry into a realm of light and abstraction. Throughout the projection, geometric shapes, organic textures, and beams of light blend into one another, creating the impression that the building itself is transforming into an immaterial object.
