Alexandru Papuc (RO) – Fascicular Embodiments

Alexandru Papuc is a Romanian visual artist whose practice focuses on sculpture and installation. His work explores the relationship between form, memory, body and light, often moving between figuration and abstraction. In his recent series, he uses plexiglass structures and laser projection to create optical systems and spectral forms situated between presence and absence. His installations combine transparent sculptural elements, light, reflections and spatial perception. He studied sculpture at the National Academy of Arts in Bucharest and is a member of the Union of Visual Artists of Romania. His works have been presented in several exhibitions, including Fascicular Embodiments at Simeza Gallery, Bucharest, Bucharest Sculpture Days, the Skopje Biennale and Vienna Contemporary Art 2020, Kunsthalle. Fascicular Embodiments explores the transformation between space, body and light through transparent sculptural structures activated by laser beams and reflections. The work creates the sensation of spectral presences emerging from industrial darkness. Light becomes a temporary body, while the surrounding architecture becomes part of a living perceptual environment. The installation combines sculpture, laser projection, reflections and spatial atmosphere. For INOTA, the work will be adapted to the industrial architecture of the power plant, creating an immersive environment shaped by light, shadows, transparency and spatial perception.
