The 2023 INOTA Festival was created as a joint initiative of the Budapest NVC event management collective and Centrum Production, guided by the objective of establishing Hungary's largest audiovisual festival focusing not only on forward-thinking music acts, but also light installations, mappings and other contemporary visual works - in many cases as an integral part of the musical performances. Shapes of the past and the future merged into an exceptionally original unity in the stunning grounds of the Inota thermal power plant near Várpalota, one of the largest Hungarian industrial projects of the socialist era.
INOTA is back in 2024, this time not as a festival, but as a series of dedicated events: first we returned to the industrial area on 12 and 13 July, bringing the new wave of techno and boundary-pushing electronics to the still staggering Turbine Hall.
The next great phase will take place between 30 August and 1 September, when we will transform the power plant site into one giant walk-through exhibition space at our INOTA Focus: RADIANCE event - while also bringing out the electronic music side, from cosmic ambient to cutting-edge techno.
